Let’s Talk About Style: A Q&A with Allie Bast of Bast Brothers Garden Center

Allie Bast has great taste when it comes to home décor, plant trends, and overall style. Don’t just take our word for it. One look at her blog The Fashion Enthusiast will convince you. When Allie posted a #shelfie of her desk to Instagram (shown below) featuring three of our retail-ready planters we were instantly in love. We could have just double tapped and kept scrolling, but we had to know more about her home décor aesthetic and get some insight into her creative process.

She was kind enough to make time for a quick Q&A with our marketing manager Brie Genovese.  Here’s what Brie asked her:

BG: What made you choose those three planters for your desk? What was your thought process behind that vignette?

AB: “I’m a sucker for white pottery – it’s clean and modern looking. When I put together my work area and added the palm print fabric as the backdrop to my desk, I thought these white planters would be the perfect complement to a busy background. The white pottery really showcases the plants, which was my intention for my work space.”

Psst… here’s the infamous Instagram post we’ve been lusting after. (Photo courtesy of Allie Bast, @alliebast on Instagram)

BG: What is your opinion of succulents and how they fit into what’s trending in home décor today?

AB: “Succulents are everywhere these days. They are the perfect addition to a coffee table, kitchen counter or bedroom dresser. I feel like people are more inclined to add live plants to their indoor space to promote a happier environment. I know when I bring home a new plant, whether it be a succulent, palm plant or fern, my space is instantly transformed. It’s almost as if a room is incomplete without a plant!”

BG: What’s your favorite thing about succulents?

AB: “Succulents are easy to care for and so interesting to look at!”

BG: What are your thoughts on ArizonaEast’s line of retail ready products that your customers can just grab and grow without much effort?

AB: “I love, love, love ArizonaEast’s retail ready products – they are the best giftables and quick sellers for Bast Brothers. A lot of people are intimidated at the thought of putting together their own terrarium, so having something pre-potted and gorgeous is a win for our customers.”

We’re sending a huge thank you to Allie for sharing her thoughts with us. Are you feeling inspired? Shop these planters and more in our 2017 Product Catalog.
